Henry Hudson Barton was a jeweler who came to North Creek searching for gem stones and found a area to be rich in garnet. Mr. Barton stayed and opened Barton Mines in 1878. The mine is still in operation today on Rudy Mountain. While gem quality stones can be found, Gore Mountian Garnet is used as an abrasive for many different applications inculding polish for the Hubble space telescope lens. this coffee is a medium roast and makes a balanced cup of coffee, as if it was polished smooth with garnet.
